Hockey New Zealand

Facilitate a whole of sport review of Hockey New Zealand to identify changes required to delivery against an agreed strategy including significant engagement within the hockey community and with external stakeholders.

Hockey is unique in the sports being equally represented in participation by females and males, this gender equality flows through all levels of the sport.


Sky Television NZ – On Demand

My role was to manage the changes in the broadcast operation of Sky to support a number of new OTT (online television) initiative launches. The changes managed included technical, people and process changes, focused on the broadcast and media management functions.

The primary focus was the launch of an on-demand service delivered via the standard Sky Box and the management of the content delivery for initial launch and ongoing operational design for delivery.


Aktive Auckland Sport and Recreation

355b77_6c068d015b694420857322214c061f0c-mv2Managed creation of a new organisation, Aktive, to provide strategic leadership to the sport and recreation sector in Auckland. Aktive is the primary funding and strategic body supporting primarily community sport and recreation, as well as managing and growing Auckland-wide programmes to improve the health and well-being of Aucklanders and their communities.

The project required the creation of new legal and governance structures, transformation of the operation of existing organisations (administration and service deliver) and developing funding processes with local and national funders (government, council, community trusts and private organisations).


Solomon Islands Broadcasting

355b77_adb0820e33824a429cb43f4a56d3d6bc-mv2Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation (SIBC) is the national broadcaster for the Solomon Islands. They have been effectively operating an AM and FM radio network for a number of years.

SIBC wanted to create a national television service, and the project involved the planning and definition of this service. It is a multi-stage project, with the current stage due for completion in 2016.


Netball New Zealand

355b77_3bf3887b66a948f7842a5c3b6e7c6845-mv2Netball is the highest participant female sport in New Zealand with >135,000 registered players and includes a professional national team and professional/semi-professional franchise teams competing in an Australia/New Zealand competition.

The project that was lead was the re-structuring of netball in New Zealand,  including high performance (professional and amateur) and community strategy and delivery, and considers governance, legal structures, financial organisation, competition structure and player and official development.

The transformation was to move from 17 organisations to 6. This required significant engagement and consultation with the wider netball community to gain understanding and support for the change and managing a wide stakeholder group from the Board of Netball New Zealand, regional and franchise managers and volunteer Boards of the regional management entities.


New Zealand Rugby League

355b77_c4b43063fc974719a2793f4975d3fbe1-mv2Lead a working group including board members, CEO and others from the senior management to analyse and implement solutions to improve the functioning of NZRL which manages the sport nationally, and the Zone organisations that manage the development of the sport regionally.

The focus was on formal and informal governance, operational management, organisation design and general communication solutions.
